Beyond the Studio
Before moving to Scotland, I was based in London. There I founded Seven Seven Contemporary Art. The gallery had strong international links working with public museums and private galleries in Europe. We joined Trieste Contemporanea, creators of Continental Breakfast, a consortium of art organisations and museums in Central Eastern Europe. This resulted in exchanges and exhibiting opportunities in the National Gallery of Slovenia, Maribor and participation at the Venice Forum for Contemporary Art Curators at the Venice Biennale. The gallery collaborated with Supermarket,at the Kulturhuset, Stockholm in 2010. We arranged several exchanges with AKA gallery in Rome. Seven Seven participated in Zoo Art Fair in 2005 and took part in Soho in Ottakring , Vienna in 2003
Previously I worked as a part-time lecturer in a number of English art schools, including in the Fine Art department, Loughborough and Swindon College where I contributed to building the innovative BA in Drawing for Fine Art Practice, ratified by Oxford Brookes University
I worked with major branding companies, creating team building projects and creative training workshops for Landor Associates, Enterprise IG, Futurebrand, and Smith & Weston. Set in inspiring European locations and separated from their computers the participants focused on engagement with materials, Fine Art critical thinking and discussion.
From my large studio in Bow Arts I formed a team of skilled artists and provided set design and production for major London venues. These included The Royal Albert Hall, Grovenor House Events and Lewisham Theatre during the late 1990s. Following visits to Malawi I exhibited at the Africa Centre, London and was subsequently invited to provide workshops for township students in Zimbabwe resulting in European scholarships for some and new career paths for others. My Africa experiences led me to WOMAD. here for 1992 -93 I designed, produced and installed site and stage decoration for festivals world wide.
I am professional member of the Scottish Society of Artists and was an elected and co-opted council member. I was later employed as a mentor for mid-career artists in a collaboration between Creative Scotland and the SSA .
I am a professional member of Visual Arts Scotland.
