ABOUT THE PROJECT:

The work is an inerpretation of the essential elements of a classical ruin. Technical restrictions at the Scottish National Gallery necessitated alterations to my original concept.   However ,  conversations with the gallery custodians were fruitful enabling me to refine the piece and allowing me to say with assurance that the piece is a response to the neo-classical tradition of the building.

It was later re-shown in the landscape the Wiltshire Downs where, in spite of the obvious anomalies of materials and location, it reclaimed the appearance of  an authentic and romantic ruin.
