Planetarium- The Nunnery

Plywood panels, found doors, led lights
5m x 5m x 4m (w x d x h)

This work was initially built for Artvaults, Southampton, an event held in the underground medieval spaces that survived the WW11 bombing.

The Planetarium has been widely exhibited and evolved and changed over time. The geodesic dome has been re-purposed to make versions of the Pantheon in Rome. This planetarium was chosen by Andrew Hunt, curator, critic and facilitator for an exhibition at the Nunnery, influencing the theme of the show and its title: The Stars Down to Earth. His description: 'The work plays humorously with ideas of perception, distance, the sublime, and our impossible attempts to artificially re-create these experiences'.
