ABOUT THE PROJECT:

The Planetarium was first made for a project in the medieval vaults beneath Southampton. A sense of calm pervades the interior and the geodesic plywood dome creates a remarkable acoustic. Drilled holes in the dome make use of available light to create an arbitrary and changing night sky. The appearance of the Planetarium has changed in each re-construction, affected by new decisions, ageing, and repair and renewal.
